The specification of requirements provides the designers with the requirements that must be satisfied and therefore defines the scope and bounds of the engineering design work.
Circle Nuclear Consulting are familiar with the requirements for packaging, storage, transport and handling of radioactive waste having been involved in a number of iterations of the specification documents that cover all the regulatory, security and safety requirements. Examples include:
- Development of the initial functional design requirements for near-surface storage and disposal facility for intermediate and low level waste in Norway
- Development of the Principal Project Requirements of the National Radioactive Waste Management Facility (NRWMF) in Australia
- Preparation of the first issue of the Disposal System Technical Specification (DSTS) which identified the requirements for a UK geological disposal facility
